In addition to the stunning coastline which boasts a large fur seal colony and visits from Orca in the Spring, visitors may enjoy world-class free-range hunting of red stag, fallow buck and wild boar and some of the best fishing imaginable with groper, blue cod, crayfish (NZ lobster) and paua (NZ abalone) on our doorstep. Safe swimming and snorkelling is offered on our fine-sand beach, rock pooling and exploring the unusual rock formations is a heavenly way to relax.

As you snuggle under your bedcovers or take a late night stroll, you will be mesmerised by the wonder of pure darkness with just the occasional blink of the lighthouse 300m away. Our vast night sky is littered with stars and the Milky Way is visible to the naked eye.

For historians there is evidence of pre-European occupation by Maori dating back to the 14th century. We provide excursions in to the back country to our refurbished but authentic 1920's musterers huts. One can be reached in 45 minutes by 4WD or one hour and 30 minutes walking. The other, Kate's Hut, is one hour by quad bike or two hours and 30 minutes walking. The hut sits beneath 663m (2000ft) Mt Adams, the highest peak in the coastal mountain range.
The Lodge has been designed by a leading New Zealand architect and is contemporary in style with each room taking full advantage of the wildly beautiful environment. All the rooms are tastefully appointed so you may be active or restful as you like.

Your stay is fully hosted and we provide sumptuous meals prepared from locally caught fish and wild venison; locally raised beef and lamb and vegetables grown on the farm. Our region boasts a number of excellent vineyards and their wines will be served with our compliments.
